Leading of the Holy Spirit

Immediately the Spirit impelled Him to go out into the wilderness, and He was in the wilderness 40 days being tempted by Satan. - Mark 1:12

Sometimes the Holy Spirit will ask us to do things that don't seem right. If the Spirit lead you, would you fast for 40 days and allow yourself to be under constant temptation from the devil in that weakened state? I think I would be saying, "really, God? Are you serious?!?"
Think of it this way - Jesus was newly baptized in the Holy Spirit. Sure, He was the Son of God, but His human state needed the Holy Spirit. Remember the first time you were baptized by the Holy Spirit? When everything was new and fresh? Would you have followed God anywhere? Probably, just like Christ did.

But that's not really what I wanted to talk about. I was really lead to talk about this: Do we allow the Holy Spirit to move us in ways that seem crazy or impossible to man? Are we constantly speaking to God, telling Him that we will give everything up if it's His will? That we are willing to depart from the world (go to the wilderness) for 40 days and just seek His face? Maybe you feel like you are already giving everything You have to the Lord? Here are some ideas for ways to grow in your faith: (Note: I cannot claim that I have done everything on this list, I only write this list in hopes that the Holy Spirit will convict both of us to grow)
  1. Bible Study
  2. Get involved in some form of church, even remotely.
  3. Fasting and prayer
  4. Speaking in tongues
  5. Reading books by Spiritual Leaders
  6. Healing Others
  7. Witnessing
Now, the list above is in no particular order... and I do not wish to sound like I am commanding anyone anything except to pray and open you mind to what the Holy Spirit is telling you to do in regards to this.
Cheers,
